Under misc Crumpler info it asks for anyone having info on Redmond Crumpler
on the 1840 Walton Co., census to let someone know.
Gloria, this is the same Redman that is brother to your Blackman. His daughter,
Margaret married Stephen Turner. His other daughter Sarah Holmes Crumpler
married William Wayne Turner, son of Stephen and his first wife, Elizabeth
Swearingen.
Farther along in the misc. info it shows R. Crumpler and John Crumpler
voting in the 1st election of Florida. This is probably Redman and his son,
since they voted at Stephen Turner's house. My records shows both marriages
were preformed by Redman Crumpler, Magistrate.
The Turners' and Crumplers' were in Florida until 1853. Stephen Turner was
one of the first commissioners of the new county of Holmes, which was
formed out of Walton.
In 1853 Stephen and Wm Wayne along with their Crumpler wifes and their
families left Florida headed for Texas. They made it as far as Louisiana.
They are buried in Turner Cem., Allen Parish, Louisiana. I have sources for the
above along with their descendants, if needed.
Gloria, FYI: The book, "Records of Wilcox County, Alabama" by Marilyn
Davis Barefield, 1988, contains the following information:
p66 "Daniel Dickson was appointed Guardian of Frances Dickson, with Daniel
Dickson, JONATHAN ROWELL, Henry C. Parson, and Thomas Dean, security.
3/17/1845"
Is this Rowell one of yours? The Dicksons are mine.

Your idea of sharing information is wonderful. Good luck. It will be most helpful to those
people
who don't know anybody in Colleton County. My great-grandfather was John Grandison
Williams,
born in Colleton County in 1832. He had nine surviving adult children, and five
descendents of them
gathered in Walterboro a couple of years ago to meet for the first time. It was a ball!
Anyway,
we have been unable to do much tracing of his ancestors. His immediate parents were James
Alexander Williams and Emelia Snead Williams who are buried in the Black Creek Baptist
Church Cemetery. Beyond that it gets hazy. James Alexander Williams and his wife were
first
cousins. James mother was a Prudence Williams who married a man named Williams. He must
have died fairly young because she is listed as Prudence Williams in the 1800 census. She
then
remarried a man named Paris. As far as I can tell, this Paris is not a known relative of
the
Paris for whom Paris Island is named, though a connection may yet be made. Prudence's
father was supposedly a John Grandison Williams who was born in Wales in 1760 and came
to this country to survey the road between Charleston and Savannah. Unfortunately, we can
find no record of him on any kind of surveying records or list of surveyors at that time.
He
also became a school teacher according to family lore. We are searching for the burial
site
of Prudence Williams Paris (it should be in Colleton, Beaufort, or Barnwell counties. We
are also trying to identify the Williams whom she married and also the original John
Grandison Williams (the surveyor from Wales). If you or any of your correspondents
can help, we would appreciate it. By the way, my great-grandfather John Grandison
Williams was a remarkable man. He was in the first graduating class from Furman U.
after it moved to Greenville. He later became president of the alumni foundation after
the Civil War and helped raise $200.000 in rural S.C. after the Civil War to keep Furman
open. He was a Baptist minister who served as a chaplain in the S.C.

Your site has been, by far, one of the most useful sites I have found in researching my
mother's ancestry. Granted, the revelations have been limited, but I feel that with the
help of the mailing list, I can get past my ancesteral block!
Any information you have on
Thomas Crumpler b.1814-d.9-18-1874
wife:Patsey Howell
Location:Wayne Co.,NC
would be quite helpful. I know all about him and his children, but I can't find his
parents.
I would be glad to share a transcript ofhis will from the NC archives and my family
records
for your site.
Thank you, thank you for such a great site.

I just started tracking my family history several weeks ago using information my neice's
husband
gathered. He had very little info in my mother's side and finding your site has given me a
wealth of
information. My mother is Vera Strickland (Hibbard), daughter of Letha Crumpler
(Strickland).
Through this web site I traced my mothers family on her mothers side back 12 generations.
Amazing.
Thank you so much for your hard work. Ellen Caudle-Grant
