We resurrected this site because we didn't want the years of work by Gloria Crumpler Vester and her fellow Crumpler researchers simply to be lost. Nobody has maintained it for a very long time, so many of its links no longer work — and we know. As time permits we'll go through it and tidy the broken links; volunteers are very welcome.
All of the family information has been carried over to our family history site, including a separate tree for Gloria's own database: Gloria Crumpler Vester's Crumpler Database · The Lucies Family History Site.
Please take the site for what it is: a slice of history, from the days of the rotary telephone, the daily newspaper and polite politics. — HMDP

This is the area I have been spending most of my time researching lately. I have been collecting pictures of tombstones from all the cemeteries and churches in Sampson and Cumberland counties that I can locate. So far I have over 35 different cemeteries that I have visited and photographed. My mother refers to my travels as "graveyard hopping", but she tags along anyway. I find it amazing to just drive along some of the back roads in those areas and see cemeteries on the side of the road. I have spent many hours and racked up a lot of miles on this quest, so enjoy your trip thru the Crumpler and some Allied Family's graveyards. I would love to trade any photos I have for some you might have of family members.....if you are interested just let me know. I have over 800 pictures of tombstones and about 200 family pictures. Please feel free to contact me about any of the pictures or others I might have and let me know how you like my site.
